MACON, Ga. — A Macon man is in jail after he allegedly stripped copper wiring from light poles at Central City Park.
According to a news release, patrol deputies were sent to the park around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
When they got there, they found 52-year-old Frank Tripp with copper wire from the light poles.
The release says Tripp told deputies, “The people cutting grass told me I could get this copper.”
No one gave him permission to get the copper. The sheriff’s office says several light poles were damaged by Tripp to get the wiring.
He was taken to the Bibb County jail and charged with criminal damage to public property and theft by taking government property. His bond was set at $9,495.
