MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — A Baldwin County business owner is awaiting trial after being indicted this week on 23 charges for various financial crimes.

According to a news release, 54-year-old Dean Harrison Grant was indicted Tuesday on 10 counts of insurance fraud, 10 counts of theft by taking, two counts of trafficking an elderly person by financial exploitation and one count of forgery.

These charges stem from the work he did at his business, GFG Strategic Advisors on W McIntosh Street in Milledgeville.

Grant was arrested in February on charges of insurance fraud. At the time of his arrest, he was accused of getting a total of around $589,000 from three victims to secure insurance-related investments.

Of that $589,000 – around $447,000 of that was allegedly taken from two elderly people.

The news release says Grant did not use the money to get insurance investments, and that he used it for personal reasons instead.

Weeks later, Grant was hit with 14 additional charges on allegations he took an additional $785,000 from three customers – bringing the total money he’s accused of taking up to $1.3 million.

In August, the Georgia Department of Insurance revoked his license to sell insurance based on those charges.

Grant is currently out on a $750,000 bond awaiting trial.
